Crochet Web Mandala No. 83 forms part of Chelsea Hopkins-Allan’s Crochet Web Mandala series, constructed through repeated concentric marks and intricate colour relationships.
This work is distinguished by a predominantly cool blue-green palette. Deep cobalt and blue bands create the strongest visual structure through the middle of the composition, transitioning outward into turquoise and aqua before meeting fresher emerald and lime-green tones around the perimeter. The green centre creates a concentrated focal point within the broader blue field.
The repeated hand-worked marks radiate outward from the centre in successive concentric rings, producing a strong sense of rhythm, movement and visual depth. Changes in colour intensity across the composition create a gradual progression from the concentrated central area toward the lighter outer structure.
The Crochet Web Mandala series draws on circular geometry and patterns observed in nature. Each composition explores the interaction between repetition, colour, structure and the visual rhythm created through closely spaced marks.
